So today it`s monday witch means it is meatless monday again.
As you allready might know I stopped eating meat for about seven years ago. Read about My favorite veggie dish here and My best veggie recipe here. I will promise you that these two dishes will make you love being a veggie.
There are many reasons why I became a vegiterian but mostly because I care to much about animals. I am also a member i NOAH (animal right activist in Norway) and I hope that everyone who care about our four legged friends will join this kind of groups and support them! They are doing such good work in supporting animals.
Why it is important to support animal groups
Most of the animal groups work against animal abuse, suffering and are trying to give the animals some rights here in this life, on this earth. The groups often work work towards the ideal that animals should have equivalent rights to humans, such as not being "used" in research, food, clothing and entertainment industries, and seek to end the status of animals as property. Animals have their own mind, body, personality and life. They need people to stand up for them and be their voice.
"Animals excist for their own reasons. They where not made for humans any more than blacks where made for whites, or women for men."
By reducing your meat consumption there is a lot of noticeably positive benefits, for your health, the environment and the animals.
For your health:
Eating less meat and more plant-based foods, such as vegetables, beans, and nuts, can improve heart health and reduce the risk of heart disease.
The medical community’s research found eating more vegetarian meals can reduce our chances of heart disease, stroke, and cancer, three of the leading causes of death in the U.S.
For the planet:
Reducing consumption of meat can help contain production of greenhouse gases that impact climate change.
Producing ONE quarter-pound beef burger uses up enough energy to power an iPhone for 6 months.
For the animals:
Save 28 land animals and 175 aquatic animals per year.
If we all went meatless on Mondays:
1.4 billion fewer animals would suffer the horrors of factory farming every single year.
We could save the same amount of CO² as if we were to take more than half a million cars off the roads (that’s per meatless meal!).
"If everyone went meatless one day per week, the reduced emissions would be equal to taking 273 million cars off the road."
